Third Annual Symposium on Trauma

May 17th & 18th, 2024

The 3rd Annual Symposium on Trauma is for any EMDR therapist who wants to take their clinical work to a new level. If you’re in love with Polyvagal Theory, or are looking for a place to learn this model, this training is for you! We will review the basic principles of Polyvagal Theory and how to apply this knowledge to case conceptualization and treatment planning. We will review the power of the social engagement system and its role in therapy and EMDR-focused work. The concept of therapeutic presence will be explored. We will learn how to “warm up” EMDR therapy and why putting greater emphasis on interpersonal relationship is key. You will learn several concrete Polyvagal informed interventions to prepare your clients for memory reprocessing. Participants will learn Rebecca Kase’s “Preparation Hierarchy” model, which offers a clear road map for identifying skills needed for reprocessing and determining client readiness for desensitization. We will review the many overlaps of Polyvagal Theory and AIP, and how to integrate this model throughout the 8 phases of EMDR therapy.
